Post-Digital Relationality - Embodied Experiences

Event Details

I had the opportunity to participate in the Immersive Arts series of events at Zurich University of the Arts. Prof. Marie-France Raphael presented her theses on how "The Society of the Spectacle" by Guy Debord brings light to explain many of the new forms of social artistic expressions representing contemporary's people behavior on social media. Individuals don't show themselves but a representation of whom they are supposed to be, based on previously shown digital behavioral patterns or via images that don't show the authentic self. Besides, Network displays enable the distribution of "the exhibition value". The spectator is part of the shared art and contributes with its own expressions in this form of "social movement". This is a post-digital condition, in which there's no life envisioned without the digital environment. It would be exciting to explore how this trend in digital arts could be interpreted in terms of the possibilities, on the alternative realities people wish to have and are not able to experience due to the limitations of the physical world. This event was so enlightening and I can't wait to attend the following ones.
